Popular Post John Morris
Good Monday Morning! Good Monday Patriot Woodworkers! What did you get done over the weekend, and what have you planned for the week ahead! Inquiring minds want to know. Please tell us what's happening in your shops, your life, and any events going on with you. Thank you for being here folks! Community news A CNC shortcut has been placed at the forum links pane above. Sorry it took so long! Community upgrades are on the way, again. I know, seems like we are always upgrading, but we are staying ahead of the tech curve and we are staying ahead of the bad guys and spammers. We'll let you know when the upgrade is going to happen, and when our community will be down for maintenance. We will close our community for a short while, and we'll perform the upgrade late at night. The CNC Forums are roaring along fine, thank you CNC people! Soon, in the near future, we'll be announcing a new project we'll be embarking on, it will involve helping a veteran acquire the supplies and machinery for their shop. Our sponsors will be involved, so will you! Stay tuned! Featured gallery Welcome our new members The following members need a hearty welcome from ya'll! Popular Post Gene Howe
In answer to your first question: Darned little. Saturday, I tripped over one of Phyl's larger flower pots and fell flat on my back. Knocked the wind out but, didn't seem to hurt anywhere. Sunday morning, getting out of bed was an ordeal. Walked it off. Now, this morning, tilting my head back to look up is painful and twisting at the waist is impossible. As for today's plans...on my back, under the saw bench to unbolt the saw and remove it so the new one (70 lbs) can be installed. That oughta work the kinks out. Then, play with the alignment on the new one. And, oh yeah, a trip into town to get a new library card. The rest of the week is TBD. HandyDan
Went to dinner with my siblings Saturday. Went to the flea market Sunday morning. Found a variable speed 8" grinder for $20.00. It needs a left hand thread spindle nut. 5/8-11. Going to try to find one local, hopes not real high. May need to order one on line. Work on the pen bases continues. Getting real close to being done. Take care of yourself. 2 hours ago, HandyDan said: to the flea market Sunday morning. Found a variable speed 8" grinder for $20.00. Sweet deal Dan especially for a VS & 8". If you have a Fastenal local, they can order if they don't have one in stock. As for me, between Friday and yesterday it dried out enough to get all the mowing done including the ditches. Today will be working on a pair of string trimmers I picked up local off CL for $20...my 12 y/o Craftsman fried the piston last year. The recent purchases are 30cc & 31cc. Needed more oomph for fence rows/road sides than the pair of Feather-lites we use for the yard. Also have a Craftsman (MTD) rotor-tiller I picked up last year for $20 (less engine) off CL. I'm going to install a new H-F Predator engine I purchased 3 or 4 years ago for another project but never used. Also need to pick-up and do some cleaning/rearranging in the garage after last couple of weeks projects. Remainder of week will be dependent on weather and extreme temperatures/humidity in the forecast. HARO50

kmealy
Saturday morning, I judged woodworking projects at the county fair. Funny, but I ran into a kid at Menards last week and asked him if he was going to the fair. When I told him and his mother that I'd be judging Saturday, his mom said, "Oh, you'll like the <name> kids." Sure enough two girls of that <name> came and they were head and shoulders above the others, not only in their project execution, but also their general knowledge during the interview. The younger one had a nice walnut table centerpiece that held silverware, napkins, and a flower vase (first year). The older one had a beautiful walnut and ash jewelry box and cutting board (third year). One of the more disappointing ones was the son of a "carpenter" who had built a box that had 1/8" of putty in the mitered corners and the finish was still sticky because he'd just put it on two hours before. Today, I've removed the #*)@# wire shelves in the guest room closet that collapsed last week, patched all the holes, and waiting for help to move the replacement piece up from the basement. Popular Post MT Stringer
Saturday, we delivered a project to our friends house and got it set up. They are loving it. Just what they wanted...a cabinet to fit over their wine refrigerator with a counter top for setting out snacks and stuff. And she asked for it to be black! OK. It was left up to me to design it, so I did. Turned out to be a perfect fit. Then we took off on their golf cart and toured the neighborhood, which is houses and businesses - some are eating joints, and some are watering holes! That was fun. http://www.kemahboardwalk.com/ p_toad, Chips N Dust, Gerald and 4 others

Popular Post Gene Howe
Got the old SCMS out of it's nook. The Bosch base is about 4" wider the the old Triton base. Shucky-Darn...and some other words, too. Retrofits coming up. The drive that reads the doohicky that my camera stores photos on, decided to take a hike. Spent over an hour on the phone with Dell's tech support. No joy. Must be a hardware issue. Like my dad used to say, "if'n it ain't one thing, it's another." He also said, "if ya cain't fix it with an 18" screwdriver and a ball peen hammer, it's a 'lectric problem" So, not willing to go at it with a screwdriver and hammer, I took it in to the pros. Estimates 3 days....we'll see. The pro's shop is next to my Dr's office, where I had a sebaceous cyst removed from my backside. It was becoming an actual PITA. Now, the whole reason I'd planned the drive to town in the first place was to get a new library card. Drove to the library from the Dr. and....THEY'RE CLOSED ON MONDAYS!!!
