Thought the first two pieces were wide enough....Board was about 1-1/2"  too narrow....

I'd rather not have a solid wood panel for a bottom panel.  The three pieces are not glued to each other.   Damp basement will mean the two large ones will shrink a bit...when they come out to a drier area.   Didn't have any 1/4" plywood big enough, either.

So, the loose panels can move as they want to....and not bust out a back....

Thanks!

Hinges and a can of BLO have been bought, today.......and even the van's oil got changed ( but NOT with the BLO..)

IF I can get motivated today,  I MIGHT try to install the top shelf and the hinges....unless someone wants to try their hand at the hinges:rolleyes::unsure:

Will try a sample board to test the BLO.....stuff still stinks..

I need to set up a spot to do the varnish at....NOT in the shop.    Will be a brushed on finish,  usually I tend to be a bit sloppy goingfrom the container to the wood....newspaper may yet have a use......

If  I can get the Candy Box into the clamps today....I may  spread out the sports section, and do a brush-off of the desk.....BLO has had a few days to air out...no longer stinks....might be safe to top coat it, now.
