John Morris
Good morning woodworkers What ya'll been up to these days! What did you get done over the weekend, and what do you have planned for the week ahead? We are curious and nosy, and we want to know! I worked a little on a walnut vanity for our half bath area, it's turning out pretty nice, I'll get some images up soon. Beyond that we had a pretty laid back weekend. It's getting hot in our region! We are breaking 100 degrees now, and I gotta work in that stuff in my day job, YIKES! Today we'll be in the desert where temps are going to be in the 114 degree range, lots of water, and a careful eye out for each other on our survey crew today for sure. So with that, I/we look forward to hearing what you all have planned! Image of the week By DANIEL KAPLAN [Public domain], via Wikimedia Commons THE FIRST CARPENTER'S WORKSHOP IN KFAR SABA. Gene Howe
Phyl has been visiting an old friend in MI since last Wednesday. So, keeping the home front intact has kept me out of the shop. She'll be back Thursday and, things will normalize. Hope to start cutting some Mesquite for the real rifle case soon. The prototype will become a wall hung cabinet in our son's house. Now, I've got to drill holes for shelf pegs. Probably oughta reinforce the 1/4" BB back for hanging, too. HandyDan
Got a little shop time in yesterday. Got the tools put back where they belong. Worked at the lathe and made a few pens. I will get back at the clean up this week. Can't rush something I hate to do. HARO50, Cal and John Morris
Popular Post Chips N Dust
Warming up into the mid to high 90's this week - makes it hard to go into the shop after work. Wife and I spent the weekend over at my dad's for father's day. Had a really nice time. HARO50, Cal, John Morris and 2 others
Popular Post steven newman
Got back home last night, and had a few things to unload from a pickup truck....long ride I think we saw 90% of the state of WV on the way home. Two directions...up or down, and 30 curves to get between each. Need to clean a few tools ( might be topic later) and need to find a use for a "hoard" of Maple and Poplar About 1/2 a pickup truck's worth..driver got the other 1/2 of the load. Made going through these "hills" a bit ..."fun" Monday? ummmmm, usual Monday stuff going on. Wake me up when Tuesday arrives... HARO50
Hot and humid predicted for much of the week, so I'll spend a lot of time in the COOL basement shop! Found a little treasure on the scrap metal pile at work a few weeks ago, and offered to buy it from the guy who had dumped it. He looked at me as if I were senile, and said: "Take it, it's all SCRAP!" So I did. Now that I'm down to one day a week, I'll have the time to restore it. Will post under "Old Arn" when I'm done! We'll be plinking in the hills in a few weeks! https://www.henryusa.com/rifles/lever-action-22-rifle/ I had a Mod 94 Winchester 30-30 that I loved, I got rid of it a few years back, biggest mistake I ever did make, but I thought I'd pick up something fun for the kids and mama and me to plink some targets with in the hills. My kids are pretty skinny, bony arms, otherwise I'd get my 30-30 back and let em learn on it, but right now the 30 is a tad to big for those lil arms. It would kick like mule on them. I'll let the family learn on the fun one first, then I hope to add more to a growing collection. I am not a big pistol fan, but I do love rifles, I also want to look into black powder too. With the new Henry, I hope I can pick the wood grain via mail order with FFL pick up. Popular Post John Moody
@John Morris That is a very cool rifle and will be lots of fun to plink with. I have a 1956 Winchester Model 94 30-30. I love rifles too! I still have my first BB gun a Daisy Golden Eagle and it still shoots. Wish I had the box but I shot it up when I got the gun. I took my 11 year old granddaughter out to the outdoor range to shoot a month ago. She loved it and is a pretty good shot. I hope you all have fun with it. Good for them to be exposed to guns in the proper and safe setting and learn to respect them. Popular Post Ron Dudelston
Well, here I am a day late to the party. Last week, I layed tile throughout the entry way, kitchen and utility room. Yesterday, I started laying laminate in the front living room and down through the hallway into the bedrooms. Next up is to put up new baseboard. Luckily, someone else is doing the carpet. Dadio, Chips N Dust, John Morris and 2 others
