Popular Post Gerald
This is a platter from cherry crotch working on for DIL birthday. Had to show both sides with the flame. Only 2 coats Watco on now. Stick486, p_toad, Cal and 2 others
lew
Nice! When you cut the recess for the chuck jaws, do you do the ornate chatter work and details before you reverse the blank?

It was a little difficult as the platter had a small warp and would not mount to vacum chuck . So I did it against the vacum chuck with the tailstock up . It was tedious but did finally get that on the bottom the way I wanted. Jari and Grandpadave52
lew
Thanks. I was wondering how you reversed chucked the finished piece.
Steve Krumanaker
Beautiful work Gerald, there is just no substitute for that feathery crotch grain, I like the natural edge and your detail on the bottom too. Thanks for talking about how you did it. Steve
HandyDan
Excellent! It is not easy to get the feathers perfect. Love it!
Ron Altier
I really like that, but wonder about cracks due to the shape and proximity of the bark. Do you take special precautions?

Do you take special precautions? But cracks I presume you mean of the bark. I used CA to the edge of all bark and it should stay for a while. There is a statement from a Pro (not sure who) "it is not a matter of if , but when the bark will come off". Thanks for the comments
