Popular Post steven newman
Ok, FINALLY got a little ME time in the shop. Started off by moving a couple tool benches out of the way, just until a new spot for them can be set up.. Crowded spot. I cleaned the floor where these were, and got things ready to move... Getting better. The black thing to the lower right, is the trash bag. I had to pull the tool chest out, and slide it towards the trash bag, so the bench could take the place of the chest. Chest was headed to the wall.. Small bandsaw inbetween. Router table is now beside the lathe. The bench is for the BIG Mitre Box.. Backed up to the back of the workbench. bad when you need a rake to clean a floor....even the broom is worn out. Shop Cat tried to help out, by guarding the trash bag.. Soo, now I have room to work back there, I can even turn around! Maybe I can get back to do some woodworking? Since the HUGE Mitre Box is out of my way.......when I get the "dresser" built, that old dryer will be going out the door. Now, IF I can find someone to haul that heavy trash bag up the steps...... steven newman
Neighbor "kid" brought the trash bag upstairs. He was over to dry his Honda Uniforms.....Their dryer doesn't work. Leg is quite sore tonight.....may have done a wee bit too much down there... Camera takes way too big pictures, I have to resize them down, when I load them from the camera. Can't change the settings on the camera. ....PITA. We'll see how the week goes, might get some lumber next weekend and go at it. Anyone is welcome to stop by and help out.....have a wee bit more room down there, now. Miataguy, Chips N Dust, HARO50 and 1 other

Miataguy
Also, I have a really decent and sturdy work table I probably could donate to the cause of the shop remodel. Since I am building another work bench to take the place of the work table, you would be saving the work table from a "Viking Funeral".... I have some ideas about a saw till i would like to build, might have you down and we could build two of them.... acr_scout
@steven newman, Can we get more detailed pictures of the miter saw? I inherited one. One of the legs was broken so I am getting some new ones cast in bronze (all the guy had). I see yours appears to have some kind of bar above the saw. Mine has some kind of attachment up there but but I never knew what it was for. steven newman, Miataguy and Grandpadave52

steven newman
I'll see what I can do...... As for that bar acroos the top? I simply bought some flat bar stock at Lowes. Needs to fit this slot at the top. I also needed to buy a couple thumbscrews to hold the bar in place. The bar is to keep the posts square to each other. It is NOT a handle to carry the box with. This is the front guide. It will have an "F" right above the center bolt. The spring is supposed to go on the left. At the top, there should be a lever. You "trip' the lever to lower the saw. The Rear guide will have a "B". The tab at it's top will be a square shaped one. When the saw is tripped on the front, the tab on the back gets tripped as well. On the photo with the saw, I have the back guide turned the wrong way, as the tab should be towards the front. I can try to other pictures if need be. acr_scout
When I get mine back I will share photos but mine doesn't have the bar across the top but it does have thumb screws on the back side of the back stop. I cannot figure out what they are for. Miataguy
steven newman
They are for the stock holders. A bar & peg, that slides in a dado in the deck. It is supposed to help hold a piece of lumber against the fence, so it doesn't move while you are trying to saw it.. Slide this out, place the wood on the deck, and then slide the pin against the wood and tighten the thumbscrew in the back. You can just barely see the pin sticking up there. Holding the work while the saw is in use.. and giving my shoulder a work out..
