Matter of fact, yes he is...downside you'd have to come down out of the mountains though...house calls went by the wayside long ago... As I left exam room, he said "well hopefully won't need to see you again for six months" to which I replied... "Hope you stick around longer than the last two doctors I've had..." He goes, "uuhh...me too" Guess we'll see...I don't think much of today's corporate medicine HARO50, Cal, Dadio and 1 other
Gene Howe
Solution to the Dr. shortage: Don't get sick. That worked for the first 70 years. Lately, not so much. Even worse, I knew what that thingie was but, I forgot. Careful now. I'm talking about the MWTCA thingie. Al B
Good GP's have become a scarce commodity Dave. I don't see any locally. Seems like doctors are all becoming specialists today. I always thought the little hammer was there in case you got violent. The knee tap was just a warning. Grandpadave52 and HARO50

HARO50
OOPS! I thought the "little hammer" referred to the doctor visit. My family doctor still threatens me with one now and then, but my diabetes specialist (endocrinologist?) now uses a tuning fork. FWIW, no part of me can carry a tune in a picnic basket! And the rap upside the head was just revenge for that "older than ice" comment. John Grandpadave52

Dadio
The only thing this even remotely resembles is a weapon, but they seem to be more ornate, which leads me to believe it must be a tool instead. but strangely nothing comes close to it. It doesn't look homemade either , looks like it is factory manufactured. And if it is then it shouldn't be one off item should be a lot of them made. I have looked under meat hooks, ice tools, vintage, antique hammers ,coopers tools, floor laying tools, woodworking tools, blacksmithing tools, Nothing. Oh, I didn't mean to infer I didn't deserve that ...just wanted to clarify what "hammer thingy" was mentioned... Not sure what is in my chart (all on a laptop now) that was passed along, but new doctor seemed to keep his distance from me and had something between me and him all during the visit... Gary Hanscom
I'm with Herb on this one. Looked everywhere with no success...coal mining, rock breaking, railroading, firefighting, everything! It looks like it is a very specialized tool, does one and only one thing. The flat sides appear to show little or no use...like one would see if it was used in pounding staples/nails/pins etc. The hooked ends combined with the worn "handle protector/strengtheners" ends seem to imply a rocking motion for pulling/prying something like rope/wire etc. And the metal pieces along side the handle appear to serve a dual purpose...strengthening of the wooden handle as well as providing protection against striking the handle on a hard object. I even thought of it being used in steel erection...something used to align rivet/bolt holes...or farm equipment pieces. Alas, nothing like it!!
