John Morris
I like this. By the way, rights? He has not rights in the NFL. Just as players have no rights in the NBA, nor the ALB or the NLB. They are employed, and if their employers deem that they must stand for the Anthem, they must, or suffer penalties. The NFL has taken a more "freedom of expression stance" than the aforementioned sport leagues. The NFL does provide for this sort of protest. So I'll say this, ya he has a right, so do all players, but that does not mean a "right without consequences". Unfortunately in the NFL, there are no consequences. Does a citizen have a right to burn the flag, you bet! I hate it, but it must be. That does not mean that the citizen cannot expect zero consequences for their action, like a swift right hook from a Vietnam Vet standing nearby. It happens. We all have rights, but there are consequences, fortunately we have awesome companies like the Air Academy Federal Credit Union, who are willing to hit these guys where it counts, in the pocket books. That's all they understand, some of them. Brandon Marshal Loses Endorsement Deal After National Anthem Protest Quote While we respect Brandon's right of expression, his actions are not a representation of our organization and membership. We wish Brandon well on his future endeavors. Source: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2662712-brandon-marshall-loses-endorsement-deal-after-national-anthem-protest Here is an older article about the suspension of an NBA player for not standing for the Anthem. The NBA will fire them, for not standing. Good on the NBA. Quote The (NBA) league contends that under a standard contract, a player must abide by the league's rules, one of which requires players, coaches and trainers to "stand and line up in a dignified posture" during the U.S. and Canadian anthems. The Nuggets first informed the league about Abdul-Rauf a month ago, but he was not suspended until after the issue became fodder for Denver talk-radio stations and he discussed his beliefs with reporters at a Tuesday practice. Chips N Dust
I agree, they have a right, but they should suffer the backlash from it as well. What gets me is that because a person is a movie or sports star, most other people think the opinions the 'stars' have are more valuable, important, or what have you than any regular person. Gene Howe
Except for religious reasons, any one who won't honor the flag and the anthem is ignorant, has no ability to use logic and reason, and is disrespectful of his country and it's millions of men and women who have died to preserve the rights he abuses. An NFL player who dishonors the flag and anthem is also disrespecting one of their own, Pat Tillman. As I said...ignorant. Link to comment

Grandpadave52
Brandon Marshall Loses Endorsement Deal After National Anthem Protest Started by John Morris, 9 hours ago GOOD! Maybe it will be a strong message to the NFL and anyone else who CHOOSES to disrespect our country!! Knowing you possess the right to do something yet knowing how, when and where to exercise that right differentiates a man with knowledge from a man who possesses great wisdom. Link to comment
