Gerald
Pine is a B for turning legs . I did a 4 poster bed for the wife and told her that was the last thing in pine.
steven newman
Somedays, that is all I have to work with.. OK, dug out the footpath to this "thing" And even found some chisels stash on it, under a bunch of over stuff.. So, cut off the excess on the blank, measured a few times to find a center point. Then add a drive spur.. Gave it a spin to see how it would go.. I never took the lathe out of granny gear, but I got things close to roughed out.. Has a collar and a tenon on one end, and.. A recess for the legs. Motor for the lathe was getting warm. I'm getting worn out. Time to give both a rest to cool down... Next time, I might finish this turning? Maybe.. John Morris
By golly Steve, did you get the secondary wood to stay put! Looks like you preserved some of the outer boards? steven newman
steven newman
White wood is sap wood from the Walnut slab. The parts I needed to stay put...did. Needs a second session, after the motor on the lathe cools off. maybe another hour's work to get it where I want.. lew and Gene Howe
