Mark Wilson
My neighbor brave me this hand saw today. It's kinda rough. All I can make out on it is it aye Prfofessional Quality and Made In The U. S. A. Does anyone know what brand it is and if it's worth cleaning up? John Moody
It has a nice looking handle Mark. You don't find many that you can still see any of the etching on the blade. With a little cleaning you will have a nice saw. Mark Wilson
lew
I thought it was a Disston saw at first. Steve Newman can identify it for certain!! Mark Wilson
John Moody
I did too Lew. The handle sure looked like a Disston. Mark Wilson
Mark Wilson
I've been doing a little research on the handle on th internet. I think my saw might be aDisston D23 Lightweight 26" Rip Saw. Because I found this picture of a handle that looks kinda like mine and I looked up the handles and that's the handle that goes on that saw. Courtland
There is a black marker that says D-23 Mark unless you wrote that in. It is located to the left of the handle at the upper third of the saw. So someone thinks it's a D-23. Your medallion states "Made in the USA" only, the quick research I had not seen any Disston medallion with "Made in the USA" only. Here is a link to the medallions. I have it bookmarked on my phone and iPad so when I am out I can check them. I have a Disston with the third medallion down 1850's - 1865 I picked up at a flea market. Wayne
After seeing these I had to go down and look at the saw in my shop. It is a Disston from 53 -55. The blade is etched C1 Countryside. Did not find info on the site from the medallions. The main reason I looked was I thought it was a Stanley and that may have helped Mark with his. Mark Wilson
It's not a aDisston. It's a 26" Stanley. Cleaned it up enough that I had someone read what was on it .
