  1. Prayers @Al B. Wish I lived closer not that I'm a lot of horsepower.
  2. I'm identifying as a slug today after the past 3 days. The Buick Enclave is begging for a rest too. Monday left home about 7A, ~18 minute drive to daughter/SILs to supervise grandsons on the first day of their spring break. Got back home about 5:30P. Tuesday up early, get ready for the marathon trip to Southern Illinois for visitation, then funeral of pastor's mother. Left home about 9:15A, EST. Drive wasn't too bad except for the insane winds and occasional rain. I was white knuckled most of the way especially while on I-70 W. There must be 4 semis for every car on I-70. Felt bad for those driving box trailers...they were struggling to keep them in their lanes. Made one stop for personal business. Arrived at the funeral home ~11:15A, CST. Visitation 11A-NOON; Funeral at NOON. Left the funeral home ~12:50 CST (1:50 EST) for the return trip. At least it was mostly sunny on the drive home but the wind was still a challenge. One stop to walk & stretch, personal business, a Casey's, iced mocha and oh yeah a couple Casey's iced donuts. Arrived home ~5P, EST. Whew. Longest time I've spent in a vehicle since well before back surgery. At the height of the journey I was much closer to St. Louis than home. Aside from the purpose of the trip and the insane wind, an enjoyable trip. I'd forgotten about all the small oil wells scattered about in that region.; saw several dozen with maybe 25-30% pumping with others either static or obviously abandoned. I also was surprised seeing several fields already planted, assume corn vs soybeans. Finally, yesterday, out by 10A, first stop to replenish Buick go juice, several errands, drive to the next county for auction item pick-up. A quick stop at Casey's for personal business and since I was there, an iced mocha and oh what the hey, a couple iced donuts, back to the home area, a few more stops. Then home, unload some stuff, a few domestic tasks, then on the road again to daughters for oldest grandsons 13th birthday celebration. SIL did steaks on the grill...no cake, no donuts, but my wife made two apple pies at the request of my grandson. Got home about 9:30 last night. To end this saga, just ate donut #2 from yesterday's trip with coffee #2 for today. May wander out to the garage later...or not.
  3. Roughly 1-1/2 hour drive from Marana to Phoenix. Plenty of time to get a few tasks done, get spruced up and arrive about time the brisket is ready to serve. May want to make a quick stop, pick up a quart of slaw and a dozen donuts for the hosts to serve.
  4. I stand corrected...in my travels around the county and neighboring county, I saw "lots" in bloom. Most were in both county seats or small towns. In the open rural not so much yet. Hard freeze and heavy frost last night probably will put the kabosh on the blooms.
  5. Took nearly all day yesterday, but finally made it to 42° with sun all afternoon. Wind wasn't too bad since it was in the 15-20mph range, so only half of what it has been. 8:55A, EST. Today's episode of Can You Guess the Weather? Our first contestant was 23° starting out, covered by frost, but failed to advance with nearly no wind. Our next contestant advanced the temperature all the way to 29° with clear sunny sky left by contestant #1, but failed to advance loosing all the sunshine to full cloud cover. Our final contestant boasts, we'll see him, her or (insert pronoun here) advance the temperature all the way to 59°, nix the frost by bringing back full sun, only have light winds, BUT, likely attain a Very High Pollen Alert. Tune in tomorrow for the next exciting episode of "So You Want To Be A Weatherman or woman or (insert pronoun here)?"
  6. And the weather yo-yo continues... 9:28A, EST; warmed up 2° since daylight. We're now at freezing aka 32°, RF 23°. Heavy overcast, West wind ~13mph. Already under a hard freeze warning with heavy frost predicted for tonight. High today will only be low 40's. Tune in again tomorrow for another episode of the exciting game, Weather-Wheel---of---(Mis)Fortune!
  7. I'll have to really dig for plans, but what about train cars + the locomotive style engines? Also, would small checker board with tic-tac-toe on reverse side playing boards be appropriate??? Not sure with unattached parts eg checker pieces and x&o's
  8. Very cool Paul. Much fancier looking and functioning than mine. It too was a creation out of need for shoulder issues and my back surgery.
  9. That is so cool. Can't imagine the man hours involved when they build it originally, but a testimony to the craftsmanship. Thanks.
  10. Very creative and cool looking. I'm amazed there are no signs of any voids in the plywood layers.
