Nice! With a lid handle patterned after the .50-90 Sharps cartridge ?

Being as I'm in my butt joint phase, those splines are giving me ideas. Thanks!

Not, really. Just a walnut scrap that caught my eye.

Absolutely gorgeous Gene!

What type of finish has been applied?  Are the splines also mesquite?

Cal, sorry I missed your post.

The finish is a coat of medium walnut Watco, wiped off after a few minutes. Followed with two lightly sanded coats of Helmsman's Spar Urethane and finally, JPW applied with some very fine steel wool.

The splines are walnut.
