John Morris 35,588 Posted September 13, 2014 Report Share Gene, that is one beautiful box my friend, love it completely. I still love the way you inlay your stone work, that is your signature right there! Quote Link to comment
Cal 19,015 Posted November 6, 2019 Report Share Absolutely gorgeous Gene! What type of finish has been applied? Are the splines also mesquite? Quote Link to comment
Woodman 5,467 Posted April 11, 2022 Report Share Nice! With a lid handle patterned after the .50-90 Sharps cartridge ? Being as I'm in my butt joint phase, those splines are giving me ideas. Thanks! Quote Link to comment

Just a walnut scrap that caught my eye. On 11/6/2019 at 5:17 AM, Cal said: Absolutely gorgeous Gene! What type of finish has been applied? Are the splines also mesquite? Cal, sorry I missed your post. The finish is a coat of medium walnut Watco, wiped off after a few minutes. Followed with two lightly sanded coats of Helmsman's Spar Urethane and finally, JPW applied with some very fine steel wool. The splines are walnut. Cal 1 Quote Link to comment
